Neben dem diesjährigen 50jährigen Institutsjubiläum waren die Forschungsschwerpunkte an der DSMZ Thema der Gespräche. Die Wissenschaftler der DSMZ gehören zu den weltweit renommierten Experten in den Forschungsbereichen Mikroorganismen, Pflanzenviren, Phagentherapie und Krebszellen und erregen mit ihren Forschungsergebnissen sowie ihrer Sammlungstätigkeit international Aufmerksamkeit.

Unter anderem ist in Artikel 50 festgelegt, dass alle Handelsplätze und ihre Mitglieder und Teilnehmer ihre Uhren synchronisieren müssen. Geschäftsereignisse werden mit einem Zeitstempel versehen. Leitlinien der esma legen sowohl fest, welche Auflösung dieser Zeitstempel jeweils haben muss, als auch, wie genau die Uhren auf UTC synchronisiert sein müssen. So ist gewährleistet, dass die Zeitstempel den Ablauf eines Handelsgeschäftes richtig dokumentieren.
