Bereits zum sechsten Mal in Folge findet dieses Jahr das GFOS Java Summercamp statt. Die erfolgreiche Veranstaltung innerhalb der Sommerferien bietet Schülerinnen und Schülern die Möglichkeit, die Programmiersprache Java zu erlernen bzw. bereits vorhandene Kenntnisse darin zu vertiefen. Dafür finden zwei verschiedene Workshops statt. Der erste richtet sich an Beginner und der zweite an Fortgeschrittene. Neben theoretischem Wissen über das Programmieren geht es vor allem um die praktische und erfolgreiche Anwendung der Kenntnisse. Beim vielen Lernen darf natürlich der Spaß nicht zu kurz kommen. Deshalb werden die Workshops durch ein Rahmenprogramm begleitet, das aus verschiedenen Abendveranstaltungen besteht, z. B. Bowling oder eine Segway-Tour. Das Java Summercamp wird in Kooperation mit dem zdi-Zentrum MINT-Netzwerk Essen durchgeführt.
