Nicht nur in Notfällen sind die Notaufnahmen von Krankenhäusern erste Anlaufstellen für Patienten. Die Folge: Notaufnahmen sind überfüllt. In den Notaufnahmen der Krankenhäuser werden dazu international etablierte Methoden eingesetzt. Sie helfen, Hochrisikopatienten sicher zu erkennen. Dazu beziehen diese Methoden Vitalparameter mit ein, unter anderem um Erkrankte zu beurteilen, die nicht kommunizieren können, beispielsweise viele ältere oder demenziell veränderte Patienten. Zudem stellt die Qualifikation der Notaufnahmemitarbeiter einen weiteren Garanten für eine sichere Ersteinschätzung im Rahmen einer Notfallvorstellung dar.
