Die Augenerkrankung wird medizinisch als "Diabetische Retinopathie" bezeichnet. "Eine rechtzeitige Diagnose und anschließende Therapie kann schlimmere Folgen wie eine Erblindung verhindern. Zu beachten gilt: Das Risiko von Blinden Flecken steigt mit der Dauer einer Erkrankung an Diabetes. Je schlechter der Blutzucker eingestellt ist, desto höher ist die Wahrscheinlichkeit, dass Beschwerden auftreten", schildert Dr. med.
