Dr. Akira Yoshino mit dem europäischen Erfinderpreis

Düsseldorf, 21. Juni 2019 - Asahi Kasei Honorary Fellow Dr. Akira Yoshino wurde vom Europäischen Patentamt (EPA) für seine Erfindung und Weiterentwicklung der Lithium-Ionen-Batterie mit dem Europäischen Erfinderpreis 2019 in der Kategorie der Nicht-EPO-Staaten ausgezeichnet. Die Preisverleihung fand am 20. Juni 2019 in der Wiener Stadthalle statt. Rund 600 Gäste aus den Bereichen geistiges Eigentum, Politik, Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft und Lehre nahmen an der Veranstaltung teil.

Akira Yoshino erfand 1983 durch die Einführung eines sicheren Anodenmaterials und einer hitze-empfindlichen Membran die erste moderne Lithium-Ionen-Batterie. Im Laufe seiner langen Karriere verbesserte er seine Erfindung kontinuierlich. Seine Innovation hat das Zeitalter globaler Konnektivität und elektrischer Mobilität mit tragbaren elektronischen Produkten und Elektrofahrzeugen eingeleitet.
