Stuttgart, 3. Dezember - Die Caritas Baden-Württemberg warnt davor, Bluttests auf Trisomie 21 (Down Syndrom) künftig routinemäßig durchzuführen und als Kassenleistung anzubieten. "Wir befürchten, dass solche Tests stigmatisierende und diskriminierende Tendenzen in unserer Gesellschaft fördern", so die Caritasvorstände Dr. Annette Holuscha-Uhlenbrock (Rottenburg-Stuttgart) und Mathea Schneider (Freiburg). "Wenn Embryonen mit Gendefekten aussortiert werden, wird der Korridor immer enger, sich für ein behindertes Kind zu entscheiden." Wichtiger sei es, Frauen und Paare, die ein behindertes Kind erwarten, beratend zu begleiten und unterstützende Angebote aufzuzeigen. Im kommenden Jahr wird der Gemeinsame Bundesausschuss darüber entscheiden, ob ein einfacher Bluttest auf Trisomie 21 von den Krankenkassen bezahlt werden soll. Bisher müssen Eltern für diesen mehrere hundert Euro teuren Test finanziell selbst aufkommen.

Aus Sicht der Caritas sollten Schwangere und Paare schon vor der Inanspruchnahme eines Bluttests in der Lage sein, sich bewusst für oder gegen eine Untersuchung zu entscheiden. "Und genau bei einer solchen Entscheidungsfindung begleiten unsere Beraterinnen und Berater in den katholischen Beratungsstellen Frauen und Paare", so die beiden Vorstände.
