(Mynewsdesk) SeaWorld manager Joel Manby announced that the controversial Orca shows in San Diego, California will only continue till end of 2016. From 2017 onwards the shows will be adapted to represent the “natural behaviour” of wild animals.
The German Whale and Dolphin Protection Forum (WDSF) describes the announcement as a “weak compromise”. WDSF manager Jürgen Ortmüller: “The shows will continue until the end of 2016 and then they will probably call it a ‘presentation of the Orcas’ after the reorganisation of the centre. This is nothing but a strategic decision to try and enable them to recover from the collapse in share prices and to quieten to voices of animal rights activists.”
